figforty is an industrial design company focused on the thorough and inspired creation of physical things. Beginning in early 2008, Lee Fletcher and Terence Woodside created figforty combining 15 years of award winning industrial design, with 15 years of award winning engineering to create a team equipped to take any product from concept through to full implementation.

Our skills and professional backgrounds are an obvious fit, but it is our experience and shared goals that creates the difference. Lee has spent time in design consulting working on technology and medical products, as well as a staff designer at Teknion, a large contract office furniture manufacturer. Terry has spent time in various levels of manufacturing, engineering and design consulting providing a very broad base of experience in process to draw from.

Our collective goals draw from an acknowledgment that we are physical beings and need physical things, but that we need to create them differently. We have adopted the Designers Accord, which compels us to strive at every point of our process to create positive environmental and social impact.

We offer our clients a transparent and collaborative process beginning with planning and research, concept development, refinement and testing, through to mechanical design and implementation. We have in-house rapid prototyping, as well as a network of prototyping and manufacturing partners we work with on a regular basis in order to remain open to whatever manufacturing process may be most appropriate to a given project.

Together we offer an approach that can realize our passion for the ‘things’ that surround us, the experiences they create, and how we design and make them.
